                      August 2026, Endings and Beginnings

As written in her obituary, Mildred DeWitt Peery, known & loved by all as "Mimi," passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, at the age of 86. Her Palo Alto home and heart, shared by husband Dick were always open. We loved her humor, music, conversation and warmth.

Among other passings, we have been blessed with many good people.

In preparation for their missions, grandsons John and Luke Carlston (born in Palo Alto, CA) received their temple endowment (made covenants with the Lord) at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.
In September they will be settled and serving in Arkansas and Oregon, learning new languages and meeting many new people, making friends. Every week at church we send off missionaries to join the amazing force which now includes 90,000 young and older worldwide.
After wonderful "farewell" talks at church we joined the family to enjoy a hot afternoon open house at their home.
Maybe our last chance to be gathered as extended family for 2 years.
One more chance to say good-bye, as they do 7-10 days home MTC.
They will be greatly missed but go with our love and support

The recent rain storm cleared the air after days of smoky skies. We often have beautiful sunsets and moon rises...

We got tickets and went to Cedar City! Also saw"Something's Rotten,"
which tells the hilarious misadventures of brothers Nick and Nigel. The duo runs a struggling theater troupe in 1590s London, where they are constantly finding themselves overshadowed by rock star William  Shakespeare. Their musical "Omelette" is a spectacular disaster.

           "Twelth Night" was amazingly funny and so well done.
"Hamlet" was spectacular, an important part of the 65th season of the Cedar City Utah Shakespeare Festival. In the University of Southern Utah (next door) Museum was a great display of Shakespeare memorabilia and history.

We visited the new Red Cliffs St. George Temple (2024)

The St. George Utah Temple is the oldest continuously operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the first built in Utah and the only one completed (in 1877)during Brigham Young's 30 year presidency.
